Quarterback Jaden

We were at football practice last night and Jaden ran a ball down the field.  Instead of running the ball back to the coach, he threw it about 20 yards in a perfect spiral and the coach was amazed.  He decided to implement a "trick" play using Jaden as the QB.  This wouldn't seem like a big deal, but this is a Coach QB league for 5 and 6 year olds and no other kids play QB.  Plus the best part is that Jaden is only 5.  :-)

IThink this is pretty ISad

So I was talking to Jaden this morning while he was playing on my IPhone, and Austin was playing on mommy's ITouch. I asked Jaden what he was going to do when mommy and daddy went on vacation next week and took there ITouch's with them. He looked at me without hesitation and said "Cry". It's a sad state of affairs when your FIVE year old is so attached to your ITouch.

You Light Up My Life.....

I just used my cellphone as a flashlight to go to the bathroom, as to not wake anyone up. It's a good thing I was taking my phone with me to play Words With Friends anyway, or I could have stubbed my toe....Technology is awesome, and debilitating at the same time.....As I don't even know where a real flashlight is in the house......

Reality

I have wholeheartedly enjoyed the ride that becoming a parent has offered. I started this blog prior to the Facebook explosion and I regret that I have utilized that more frequently for updates than I have here. I just renewed the URL for the blog, and I have every intention to reinvest my efforts, even if it is to just re-post what I put on FB prior. It's amazing to realize where I am at this point in my life. I've always been a person that notices the little things in life, but I do it even more now. If I'm in the bathroom and I see something on the floor, on the counter, or on the wall that my boys have left there, I just smile. If my family is on vacation and I'm at home and I don't hear them, I am overwhelmed with the truth of how deafening silence can be, and I just smile. If I get to watch my children grow, and make decisions based on the foundation that Shannon and I have laid for them, and they are positive ones, I'll just smile.....If for some reason they think they can make the decisions I have made and live through it, I'll just grimace and cross my fingers.

I woke up this morning to an odd noise around 6 a.m. I went out to the living room to investigate the situation. What I found was Austin sitting on the floor in the dark eating Milk Duds. The best part of it is that he got up, pulled a chair over to the cabinet where they were, obtained them, closed the cabinet and moved the chair back to it's original location. However, it really wasn't that big of a deal, as I was going to give those to him for breakfast anyway, since mommy is out of town.

30 Years? WOW, I'm old....

So, I heard today that MTV is celebrating it's 30th year on the air. I'm not sure how my family was able to afford cable so early on in our childhood, but we had it and our friends were jealous. I actually remember all of the inaugural VJ's and most of the videos. I remember watching it on a console tv in our living room as much as I could watch. However, I also mixed in riding my bike, playing with my friends OUTDOORS, and knowing that I should be home by dark, or I was in trouble. I recall waiting for the Thriller video to come on every hour on the hour, and thinking how awesome DEVO and Adam and the Ants were at the time. Music has always been a huge part of my life. I can honestly recall many events, occasions, time-frames, blessing and disappointments the moment I hear a song. I thank MTV for years of great memories and videos. In the same breath, WHAT HAPPENED TO PLAYING VIDEOS??????
