When I was growing up there were a few different things that you ALWAYS looked forward to viewing on television. On a yearly basis, it was the World Series, and on a weekly basis it was Saturday Night Live. Well, I spent some time watching both tonight and neither provided the same enthrallment that they had in the past. The World Series felt like a regular season game and SNL just wasn't that funny. Then I thought, maybe it wasn't about the programming, but the reasons you enjoyed watching these things as a kid. The World Series (or World Serious, as Dad always called it) meant you got to stay up late on a school night with your Dad and watch sports. Yeah, you were as tired as could be the next day at school, but it always felt worth it to you. Plus you got to tell your friends that you stayed up and watched the "whole" game, while most of them were fast asleep. As for SNL, it was great because you got to stay up late b/c it was Saturday night and you could sleep in a little on Sunday before you had to get up for church. Both made you feel like you were a little bit "older" than you really were, and you felt like an adult. I'm not sure how it is going to turn out for Jaden with all of the options that will be available to him in the way of computers, cell phones, video games and over 100 channels of television, but I hope and pray the little things like watching the "World Serious" with his Dad will leave him with the kind of good memories that I hold inside to this day. I heard, or maybe "read" somewhere that it is important to get your kids reading as early as possible. You can see here that Jaden is really taking to it. He loves to read books. It's really about gaining knowledge in an area or arena in which you desire more. I think once he is done with this book, he and I will have even more in common.

Well, Shannon, Jaden and I went to the pumpkin patch at the local church yesterday and picked out all of these. Gonna do some carving this weekend. I'll take a picture of the final product, if it all turns out well. Might even take some pictures of the little Guy in one of his three Halloween outfits. Happy Halloween!
Jaden had a plethora of visitors on Sunday. Grandma Karen, Aunt Tammy and cousins Nick and Brennan stopped by to visit. He got gifts, for no reason, and played and had fun with the family. However, even with the great gifts they brought, here he is sitting here playing with an empty box of baby wipes. Go figure. Anyway, we really enjoyed having them come by and hope they stop by more often....With gifts, of course. Have a good day!
Jaden is trying his first "Biter Cracker" that Grandma Libby bought him. He seemed to really take a liking to it, however, it got a little messy as it started to dissolve. 
It finished up like this, with an immediate bath to follow.
It kinda looks like a scene out of A Christmas Story in which Ralphie's brother is dressed for school by his mother. He is all bundled up and says "I can't put my arms down!" Well, Shannon got Jaden a new coat, but it's just a touch too big for him and the sleeves are longer than his arms. It doesn't seem like that big of a deal, but when you are 8 months old, your hands are your favorite thing. He was ok at first, but when I put him in his car seat he was screaming bloody murder. Poor little Guy. I think Shannon is going to try to get him a new one and lunch and we will hold onto this one until the arms get a little bit longer. :-) Enjoy your Monday!
